Please use comments to let us know what community problem you've decided to address for your story and presentation. We'll all then comment back with thoughts and suggestions for people to interview.
I'm still researching (or going to get a start on it) on the organization, but I was thinking about presenting about a community group that tries to help create a greener environment in Madison...something like that.
I thought that maybe I would write about the underage drinking problem in Lodi. It is a major focus of the high school and in my opinion a real problem. I realize that it is a large issue but if I focus on the small town setting I think it could work..
This is a huge topic, but I thought about researching crime in my area. I actually have a specific idea though. There's a neighborhood near mine that some of my friends live in, and i thought I could interview one of them. The reason I chose their neighborhood is because the rest of my friends who live outside of that neighborhood say that its a "bad" neighborhood and is very unsafe to live in. So I thought it would be interesting to get the two points of view in the situation. I'll go look up statistics and other information soon~
Definitely doing youth vote. I'll interview someone for it (hopefully someone older. This would give it more credibility, right?) and someone against it.
I'm thinking of writing about the Great Lakes Compact, an agreement between the states that border the lakes that prevents cities outside the drainage basin from taking water out of them. I will try to get opinions for and against it from my interviews so that I can have a balanced discussion.
Sorry I posted this so late, I hadn't checked my email earlier. I'm going to do a story on how high gas prices are affecting people in small towns that have to commute to places like Madison in order to work.
I teach some of the world's smartest and hardest-working journalism and strategic communication students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. These blogs are our latest effort to gin up intriguing ideas and solutions.

I'm not sure yet but I was thinking about writing about the recent rain and the flooding we have had for the community problem assignment.

high tuition costs for college and how families are paying for them
I think I'm going to change my topic and write about revenue caps and the budget cuts that we have in the madison school districts...

Sorry I couldn't post it yesterday, I wasn't here that time. My story is on vegetarianism and veganism and the impact it has on the global community.
